Newcastle United join Manchester United and Arsenal in race for Chelsea forward Christian Pulisic
Manchester United have been joined by Newcastle United in the race for Chelsea star Christian Pulisic, according to the Mirror (h/t The Sun).
Premier League table-toppers Arsenal are also interested in the 24-year-old’s signature. The Red Devils and the Gunners are looking to get the USMNT star on loan in January.
However, while the Blues are open to parting ways with the forward, the Stamford Bridge side prefer a permanent transfer. Graham Potter’s team value him at around £40 million.
The Magpies are considering getting Pulisic in the winter transfer window. However, they hope to get the fee for the winger reduced. Eddie Howe’s team have the USMNT star as one of the forwards on their shortlist.
Newcastle are also looking at Leeds United’s Jack Harrison and Brighton & Hove Albion star Leandro Trossard. The Magpies are currently third in the English top flight and are fighting for a top four spot.
Arsenal have had a surprising season. Mikel Arteta’s team managed to take a five point lead over second placed Manchester City before the 2022 World Cup break. However, the Gunners have lost their main number nine in Gabriel Jesus, who picked up an injury in Qatar.
Man United, on the other hand, have lost a player up front as Cristiano Ronaldo departed the club midway through the season. As a result, Erik ten Hag is left with only one natural striker in Anthony Martial.
In the French national’s absence, Marcus Rashford has led the Red Devils’ line for most of the campaign. The 25-year-old has been in fine form for us this season.
