Inter Milan unlikely to accept €30m plus Diogo Dalot offer from Manchester United for Denzel Dumfries
Manchester United have offered €30 million plus Diogo Dalot to Inter Milan for the Netherlands star Denzel Dumfries. However, it is unlikely that the Nerazzurri will accept the proposition for their right-back.
The Red Devils were interested in bringing the Holland international to the club in the summer of 2022. Now, the Old Trafford side are once again eyeing the 26-year-old ahead of the winter transfer window.
Speaking to 1 Football as per Pianeta Azzurro via Sport Witness (h/t Express), Italian journalist Ciro Venerato revealed United had offered a player plus cash deal to Inter for Dumfries. But he believes that will not be enough for the Red Devils to land the Holland international.
“As for Dumfries, Inzaghi considers him fundamental in the Scudetto comeback project this season.
“I don’t think United’s offer of 30 million plus Dalot can be accepted. I think the team will make evaluations in June, but if no important offers arrive, he will be confirmed for the rest of the season.”
The 26-year-old signed for the Serie A outfit in the summer of 2021 from PSV Eindhoven. Since then, the defender has been a key member of Simone Inzaghi’s starting lineup.
For the Milan-based club this season, Dumfries has mostly played in a full-back role. In 20 appearances for the Nerazzurri in all competitions, he has scored two goals and provided three assists.
The 26-year-old is also thriving at the World Cup for the Netherlands. He scored one goal and assisted the other two as the Oranje beat the United States 3-1 in the round of 16. Louis van Gaal’s team will now face Argentina in the quarter-finals.
At United, Dalot has been a mainstay in Erik ten Hag’s plans. The 23-year-old has started in 13 Premier League games for the Red Devils this season so far. He only missed the Fulham fixture due to suspension.
On the other hand, Aaron Wan-Bissaka has seen his stick lower in Manchester. The 25-year-old has been handed just four minutes of competitive action by the Dutch manager in the current campaign.

Dalot has been one of the most improved players for the Old Trafford side since last season. It would not make sense for the club to part ways with the Portuguese in order to get Dumfries.
