Brazil star Casemiro joined Manchester United from Real Madrid due to the club’s “great stature”
Former Real Madrid midfielder and Brazil star Casemiro joined Manchester United in the summer of 2022 due to the Old Trafford side’s “great stature”. The history of the Red Devils was a big consideration for the 30-year-old.
Casemiro has slowly become an important player for United under Erik ten Hag. The Brazilian has made the number six position in the Red Devils’ starting lineup his own.
Speaking to the Old Trafford side’s fans in a special Q&A on the club’s official website (h/t Manchester Evening News), Casemiro hailed United’s reputation. The 30-year-old was also keen on starting a fresh challenge outside Spain.

“Without a doubt it was down to the great stature of Manchester, because it’s a massive club with a great history. For sure that was the big attraction for coming here.
“It’s also a fresh set of goals in a brand-new league for me. So that presents a really big and exciting challenge for me and I’m working really hard to achieve them alongside my teammates.”
The Brazilian joined Los Blancos in the winter window of 2013. After playing a few months in the reserve side and the first team, the midfielder was sent out on loan to FC Porto.
Upon his return from Portugal, Casemiro started to establish himself in Madrid’s squad. He went on to become an integral part of their engine room alongside Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.
With the Spanish giants, the 30-year-old won every major trophy. He left Los Blancos with five Champions League medals and three La Liga titles, amongst other things.
United have not been at their best over the last decade. However, we are still one of the most successful clubs in England. Sir Alex Ferguson turned us into one of the biggest footballing institutions in Europe.
Ten Hag joined the Red Devils at the end of last season. The Dutch manager has brought back some excitement to the Old Trafford side. He has made the fanbase believe we are going in the right direction.
