Brighton & Hove Albion star Moises Caicedo considered successor to Paul Pogba by Manchester United
Premier League rivals Brighton & Hove Albion star Moises Caicedo has been identified by Manchester United as the successor to Paul Pogba, with Chelsea and Liverpool also interested, according to Fichajes (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Red Devils are also eyeing the 21-year-old. However, it could take around £60 million to buy him from the Seagulls.
The midfielder has been in fine form for both club and country. He was a key member of the South American nation during their World Cup run, playing every minute of their group stage campaign. Unfortunately, La Tri could not qualify for the round of 16.
Caicedo signed for Brighton in the winter window of 2021 from Independiente del Valle. After a short loan spell with Beerschot in Belgium, the 21-year-old had his breakout moment in East Sussex after featuring for the Seagulls in the second half of last season.
Subsequently, the Ecuadorian has become an important part of the starting lineup at Brighton. In the current campaign, the midfielder has started in every game the Seagulls have played in all competitions.
United lost Pogba in the summer of 2022. The France international spent six years at the Old Trafford side. However, his time with the Red Devils was inconsistent and underwhelming. Now, the midfielder is at Juventus.
In the recent transfer window, United signed Christian Eriksen and Casemiro to bolster the ranks. The Danish and Brazilian nationals have been key to Erik ten Hag’s plans this season.
The former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has made the number eight position his own, while the former Real Madrid star has made us more robust in the middle of the park.
Other options the Dutch manager can call upon include Fred, Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek. Unfortunately, the trio have been unable to convince fans of their qualities over the years.
