Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold calls England and Manchester United star Marcus Rashford “underrated”
Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has called England and Manchester United star Marcus Rashford “underrated”. The right-back believes the 25-year-old can be a game-changer when required.
The Red Devils’ academy graduate has been impressive lately. Under Erik ten Hag in the current campaign, the forward has relatively thrived compared to last season. He has struggled to make an impact last term.
Speaking to talkSPORT (h/t Metro), Alexander-Arnold, who featured for the Three Lions against Wales at the World Cup, hailed his compatriot. The Scouser feels Rashford can help take England all the way in Qatar.
“I think he’s underrated, I think he’s someone that can win games for club and country,’ Alexander-Arnold added.
“He has shown that before and I’m sure he’ll carry on and do that. I think he’s someone that can help us win this tournament.”
The 25-year-old has been United’s talisman in the current campaign. The Old Trafford side got odd to a shaky start in the Premier League. However, the Dutch manager has managed to get us back on the right path.
One of Ten Hag’s most intriguing decisions this season was playing Rashford ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo in the number nine position. But the decision has paid off.
The Portuguese struggled to make a mark in Manchester in the current campaign. Now, he has left us midway through the season. However, the English star is currently our top goalscorer, with eight goals in all competitions.
After Euro 2020, the 25-year-old was unable to get into Gareth Southgate’s plans. However, the forward’s performances got him back into the England fold for the World Cup.
Rashford has continued thriving in Qatar. The 25-year-old scored a goal against Iran in the Three Lions’ first group-stage fixture. He also found the back of the net twice as Southgate’s team beat Wales 3-0.
