Manchester United star Anthony Elanga is looking forward to the club’s winter training camp in Spain amidst the World Cup. The 20-year-old believes it is going to be vital for those who are not participating in Qatar to stay in shape.

From the Red Devils, 13 current first-team players are representing their respective nations at the prestigious tournament. The likes of Bruno Fernandes, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Casemiro have thrived in the Middle East.

However, those who have stayed back need to stay sharp as well. Thus, a week-long training camp has been planned. The Old Trafford side will fly to Andalusia on Saturday (3 November) where we will face Cadiz and Real Betis in friendly fixtures.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Elnaga is looking forward to getting some game time. The 20-year-old feels those whose teams are not participating at the World Cup need to stay fit.

“It will be really important, because obviously the ones who are going to the World Cup are getting their fitness in by playing and training, so it’s only right we do the same.”

United went into the mid-season break with a win over Fulham. The Red Devils managed to win the game in the final minutes, with Alejandro Garnacho finding the back of the net in stoppage time to hand us a 2-1 victory.

The Old Trafford side currently sit in fifth place in the Premier League. We are 11 points behind table-toppers Arsenal. Erik ten Hag has done well to turn the campaign around after the losses in the opening two fixtures.

Elanga had his breakthrough moment last season under Ralf Rangnick. The former interim head coach gave the Sweden international a lot of opportunities in the starting lineup.

However, the 20-year-old has found it harder to get into the team under the Dutch manager. In addition, Antony’s arrival has reduced the youngster’s game time as well.
