England and West Ham United star Declan Rice reveals trophy ambitions amidst Manchester United links

West Ham United and England star Declan Rice, who has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in the past, has revealed his ambitions to win trophies.

The 23-year-old has established himself as one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League over the years. Chelsea have also been associated with his signature.

Speaking to the media via Metro, Rice disclosed his willingness to develop further. He admitted to being allured by the prospect of winning silverware.

“I’ve been playing consistently well for the club and I want to keep pushing. Like you said I see my friends here who are playing Champions League football, winning the trophies.”

“You only get one career and at the end of your career you want to look back at what you’ve won and the biggest games you’ve played in. I’m really ambitious and I really want to do that.”

The 23-year-old made his way through the youth ranks at the Stamford Bridge side before moving to Chelsea. At the East London club, the midfielder slowly established himself and is now the captain under David Moyes.

The Hammers have done relatively well under the former United head coach. Last season they made it to the semi-finals of the Europa League but fell to eventual champions Eintracht Frankfurt.

West Ham were also in the race for the top four in the English top flight in the previous campaign. However, the Hammers have not had the best of times this season, sitting a pint above the relegation zone.

Rice is currently with the England national side. He started in every group stage fixture for the Three Lions as they qualified for the round of 16. Gareth Southgate’s team will face Senegal next.

Man United recently signed a holding midfielder. Casemiro arrived at the Red Devils from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022. The Brazilian has cemented his place in Erik ten Hag’s plans.

Thus, at the moment, the Old Trafford side have enough quality in the middle of the park. And it would seemingly be unlikely that Rice would want to play second fiddle to Casemiro in Manchester. So, for now, a move to United does not look to be on the cards.
