Denmark playmaker Christian Eriksen has named Brazil star Casemiro as the best midfielder at Manchester United. The former Tottenham Hotspur star believes the 30-year-old’s trophy haul makes him an elite player.

Casemiro made his way to the Old Trafford side in the summer of 2022 from Real Madrid. The 30-year-old got his hands on every trophy there is to win in football with the Spanish giants.

Speaking to the club’s official website (h/t Metro), Eriksen identified the Brazilian when asked about the best player the Red Devils have in the middle of the park. The Danish national alluded to the number of Champions League medals the defensive midfielder has won.

“It’s very different, every player has a different style, everyone has different abilities. At Man United, I would probably have to say Casemiro. He’s won about 20 Champions Leagues already, so it should be him!”

The former Brentford star was jesting when he said Casemiro had 20 UCL titles. However, the Brazilian has won five. All of them came during his time with Madrid and he played a big part in all of those.

The 30-year-old made his way to the Spanish capital in the winter window of 2013. He played for the La Liga outfits reserve side and first team for a few years before being loaned out to FC Porto.

After coming back from Portugal, the defensive midfielder established himself in Los Blancos’ first team. He ended up winning three league titles, a Copa del Rey and the aforementioned European honours, amongst other things.

Casemiro initially found it challenging to get into Erik ten Hag’s plans at United. Scott McTominay’s performances managed to keep the 30-year-old out of the first team.

However, ever since the Brazilian was handed his first start by the Dutch manager in the Premier League, the midfielder has been ever-present in the Red Devils’ team and has performed exceptionally.
