Atletico Madrid want £86m for Portugal star and Manchester United target Joao Felix

Manchester United target and Portugal star Joao Felix will be allowed to leave Atletico Madrid if the La Liga outfit receive an offer worth £86 million for the forward, according to Spanish outlet AS (h/t Mirror).

The Red Devils are interested in the 23-year-old despite his underwhelming form currently. German giants Bayern Munich and Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain also have an eye on the youngster.

However, Los Rojiblancos are in no rush to part ways with Felix. The Portuguese star’s current contract expires in the summer of 2026. The Madrid-based outfit will only consider an appropriate deal for him.

The Old Trafford side have had an eye on the 23-year-old for some time now. However, money has always been a hurdle. But the new price tag, which could be paid in instalments and bonuses, is more affordable for the Manchester-based club.

Felix joined Atletico in the summer of 2019 from SL Benfica. His displays in the Primeira Liga attracted a lot of people’s attention. However, the Spanish giants were able to get a hold of the Portuguese star’s signature.

Unfortunately, his time in Madrid has not been fruitful. The 23-year-old has struggled to establish himself in the La Liga outfit’s starting lineup. Now, the forward has also had a falling out with manager Diego Simeone.

Cristiano Ronaldo recently departed from United. The 37-year-old’s abrupt exit has left the Red Devils a man short up front. Currently, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford are the only players capable of being impactful in the number nine position.

However, the former AS Monaco star has struggled with injuries in the current campaign and Erik ten Hag has had to rely on other options. On the other hand, while Rashford has done well, the 25-year-old is a natural winger.

Felix is a versatile forward capable of playing down the middle. But the current price tag on the 23-year-old’s head seems a bit too steep considering his performances. Thus, it would be wise for the Old Trafford side to turn their attention elsewhere.
