Neymar hails Manchester United and Brazil star Casemiro as ‘best in the world’ after Switzerland heroics
Paris Saint-Germain and Brazil superstar Neymar has hailed Manchester United midfielder and compatriot Casemiro as the ‘best in the world’. The 30-year-old scored the only goal for the Canarinho in their win over Switzerland on Monday (28 November) at Stadium 974.
The South American side took on the Rossocrociati in their second World Cup group stage fixture. Tite’s team won their first game against Serbia in Group G and have booked their place in the round of 16 in Qatar.
The PSG superstar is unfortunately on the sidelines at the moment after picking up an injury in the opening fixture. However, taking to Twitter (h/t Manchester Evening News) after Brazil beat Switzerland, Neymar lauded the former Real Madrid star for his ferocious strike in the 83rd minute.
“Casemiro has been the best midfielder in the world for a long time.”
The Canarinho are chasing their sixth World Cup title in the Middle East. They last won the prestigious tournament in 2002. However, since then, the South American side have fallen short. But this year, many people have Tite’s team as the favourites.
Casemiro is playing his second World Cup for his national side. The midfielder has been a regular in Brazil’s starting lineup over the years. In 2019, he won the Copa America with the Canarinho.
The 30-year-old signed for the Red Devils in the recent transfer window from Los Blancos. It took the five-time Champions League winner a bit of time to settle into Erik ten Hag’s plans. However, he has quickly established himself in Manchester.
Casemiro was handed his first Premier League start for the Old Trafford side against Everton in October. The 30-year-old picked up the Man of the Match award at Goodison Park.
From then on, the Brazilian has been one of our best players. The midfielder went on to score his first goal in a red shirt against Chelsea in the league in stoppage time to secure a point for us.
