Paul Parker fears new Manchester United owners will want to sack manager Erik ten Hag

Former Manchester United star Paul Parker fears the potential new owners of Manchester United will want to replace manager Erik ten Hag upon their arrival. The former defender is worried about the Dutch head coach being relieved of his duties when the hierarchy changes.

Ten Hag joined the Red Devils at the end of last season and took the reins from interim boss Ralf Rangnick. The Dutch manager left Ajax after several successful years at the helm. And the Old Trafford side are also showing signs of improvement under him.

The Glazers released a statement recently declaring their intention to find a solution for the club. Our current owners are open to a full sale of the prestigious team they gained control of in 2005.

Speaking to Futbin (h/t Express), Parker, who spent five years with United during his playing career, feels a takeover could lead to the end of Ten Hag’s time in the Manchester-based club’s dugout.

“The thing I’m most concerned about is that the new owners might want to bring in their own manager and if that happens, Man United has to start from scratch again.”

The Red Devils are no strangers to changing managers every few years. Since the end of Sir Alex Ferguson’s 26-year stay in the Old Trafford dugout in 2013, we have seen David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer come and go.

Under the Glazers, United have deteriorated in stature in the last decade. The Red Devils’ off-the-pitch management has evidently affected how we have performed on the pitch.

Thus, many fans are rejoicing at the possibility of the club being handed over to a different pair of hands. However, the new owner will seemingly have to listen to the fans on certain matters.

And Ten Hag has gained enough trust from supporters in his short time at the Old Trafford side. The fanbase will not be happy if the potential new owners decide to part ways with the former Ajax head coach without giving him the appropriate time and investment.

First, it remains to be seen how long it will be before United is taken over by someone other than the Glazers. As far as fans are concerned, Ten Hag has earned his stripes at the club and is the person to lead us back to the top.
