Liverpool unable to afford England star and Manchester United target Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund
Premier League rivals Liverpool do not have the means to compete with the likes of Manchester United for England and Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham, according to The Telegraph (Subscription Required) [h/t Express].
The Merseysiders do not possess the financial capability to rival the other teams in the race for the 19-year-old. They will likely need to offload a big-money asset to afford the youngster.
Bellingham is attracting interest from major English top-flight sides such as the Old Trafford side, Chelsea and Manchester City. European behemoths Real Madrid and Barcelona also have an eye on him.
The 19-year-old left England in the summer of 2020 and joined BVB from Birmingham City. Since then, the midfielder has developed into one of the best players in Germany.
In the current campaign, Bellingham has taken his game to the next level. The youngster has produced brilliant displays in the Champions League and has been ever-present in Edin Terzic’s starting lineup. The Dortmund manager has also handed the 19-year-old the captain’s armband on a few occasions.
Bellingham has also caught many people’s eyes with his performances for the national side. In England’s World Cup opener against Iran, the midfielder broke the deadlock with his goal as the Three Lions won 6-2.
At United, in the middle of the park, Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes have staked their claim. And the two new summer additions in the engine room have impressed many.
However, most fans want the Red Devils’ strength in depth to be improved. Fred, Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek have not been consistent enough.

In the recent transfer window, the Old Trafford side showed their financial might by signing the likes of Antony, Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez. Thus, some supporters will be confident about getting a deal over the line for Bellingham if it comes down to money – although the situation around our ownership could have a say in that.
