Manchester United “will consider its response” after full facts around Cristiano Ronaldo interview are established
In the aftermath of the infamous interview Cristiano Ronaldo gave to Piers Morgan, Manchester United will take the next steps when the “full facts have been established”.
The Portugal international made some disparaging statements about the club. He took aim at the Old Trafford side. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner claimed the management were trying to force him out and feels “betrayed” by the Manchester-based club.
Ronaldo also had choice words for Erik ten Hag. The Dutch manager was appointed to the Old Trafford dugout at the end of the previous campaign. And the Portuguese star stated he had no respect for the gaffer.
Now, United have released a statement regarding the situation via Manchester Evening News. Currently, only a preview of the interview has been released as of yet. And it will be aired in full on Wednesday and Thursday (16 and 17 November).
“Manchester United notes the media coverage regarding an interview by Cristiano Ronaldo. The club will consider its response after the full facts have been established.
“Our focus remains on preparing for the second half of the season and continuing the momentum, belief and togetherness being built among the players, manager, staff, and fans.”
Ronaldo has not had the best of seasons with the Red Devils. Under Ten Hag, he has not been the first choice in the starting lineup. The Portuguese icon seems to be missing his shooting boots as well.
The 37-year-old has cut a frustrating figure throughout the campaign, even when he has been on the pitch. Thus, the likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial have pipped the superstar in the pecking order.
Against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, Ronaldo was seen walking down the tunnel before the full-time whistle after refusing to come on as a substitute. Consequently, he was suspended for the Chelsea fixture.
However, since then, the manager has seemingly tried to fit the Portuguese star into his plans. The forward was also handed the armband for the game against Aston Villa in the league. Unfortunately, the 37-year-old has failed to deliver.

What Ronaldo has done is unacceptable. At a time when most fans are seeing some positive changes at United, the 37-year-old has managed to sour the mood around the club. The best thing now would be for both parties to part ways in January.
