Manchester United transfer target and SL Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez ‘will be available to buy’ next year, according to Portuguese football expert Sofia Oliveira via CNN Portugal (h/t Express).
The 21-year-old joined the Eagles in the recent transfer window from Argentine outfit River Plate. And he has quickly made his mark with the Primeira Liga club.
Fernandez was of interest to the Red Devils in the summer of 2022. However, Benfica were able to snatch him up. However, the Portuguese outfit will have a hard time keeping hold of the youngster.
Some of Europe’s biggest sides are keeping an eye on the Argentina international. In the Premier League, apart from United, Liverpool and Chelsea are also attracted by the prospect.
The 21-year-old has immediately become a key member of Roger Schmidt’s team. He has made 22 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring three goals and providing four assists.
Benfica have had a surprising season in the Champions League. In a group with Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus in it, the Portuguese outfit finished in first place. They drew against the Parisians twice and beat Juventus home and away.
Fernandez played a big part in the Eagles’ UCL campaign. The Primeira Liga side are also undefeated in all competitions in the 2022/23 season.

However, the Danish and Brazilian stars are both in their 30s. Fernandez is still young and has shown the potential to be a versatile and quality midfielder. Thus, it would be wise for the Old Trafford side to invest in their future.
