Erik ten Hag tells Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford to be more clinical in front of goal
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has told Marcus Rashford to be more clinical in front of goal. The Dutch manager feels the 24-year-old does most things right and wants the England international to be on the scoresheet more often.
Rashford has been one of the Old Trafford side’s best players this season. The 24-year-old has scored in some of the biggest games for us, including Liverpool and Arsenal. However, in recent weeks, the forward has been a bit unlucky.
Speaking to the media via Manchester Evening News, Ten Hag believes Rashford’s movement and link-up play in the final third is good. However, the gaffer wants the England international to find the back of the net on a regular basis.
“[Rashford] did a lot of things well but finally he knows that he has to be more clinical and he had to score a goal. When you have such good movements and make such good combinations, good actions, then you have to finish.”
Rashford last scored against Omonia Nicosia in Cyprus. The forward came on as a second-half substitute as the Red Devils were down by one goal. The 24-year-old scored two goals and provided an assist as the game ended 3-2.
The England international started for United against Everton at Goodison Park. The Red Devils did not create many chances in the game. However, we went into the break leading two goals to one.
Rashford could have put the game to bed in the second half. However, the 24-year-old’s goal was chalked off by VAR for handball. Many fans felt the decision was a bit harsh. In the end, we scraped to a 2-1 victory.
Rashford started in our previous game against Omonia at Old Trafford. We dominated Neil Lennon’s team for most of the fixture. However, Rashford and the rest of our attackers failed to beat goalkeeper Francis Uzoho.
The 24-year-old has several chances to score against Omonia. However, it took a 93rd-minute Scott McTominay strike to ensure the three points.
