Santos youngster Marcos Leonardo attracting interest from several Premier League clubs including Manchester United
Manchester United are one of the several Premier League clubs interested in Santos youngster Marcos Leonardo, according to Calciomercato (h/t The Sun).
Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, the two North London rivals, are also keeping an eye on the 19-year-old. The centre-forward was also tipped to join Liverpool in the past.
Leonardo is also being looked at by clubs in Italy. Serie A giants Napoli are also keen on taking the 19-year-old to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.
The South American youngster has been dubbed the “next Neymar”. There are a lot of expectations from the forward. He has scored 11 goals in 28 top-flight games this season in Brazil.
Leonardo’s impressive displays have turned the heads of some of Europe’s biggest clubs. And in the past, the 19-year-old has expressed his desire to play in the Premier League.
United have a host of young attacking talent in the squad. Anthony Elanga established himself in the team in the previous campaign under Ralf Rangnick. And Erik ten Hag had also put faith in the 20-year-old in the initial stages of the current season.
Elanga is not the only youngster in the squad. Alejandro Garnacho has also been in and around the first team in the 2022/23 campaign. The 20-year-old is one of the most exciting prodigies to have come out of the academy in recent years.
Other options up front at the Dutch manager’s disposal include Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Anthony Martial, Antony and Cristiano Ronaldo. The Red Devils have relatively young players up front.
