Erik ten Hag warns Manchester United about Omonia Nicosia before UEFA Europa League tie
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has warned his players about Omonia Nicosia before facing them in the Europa League. The Red Devils travel to Cyprus in the third group stage match.
United played Real Sociedad in the opening game of the 2022/23 season’s UEL. However, the Red Devils faltered against the Spanish opposition, losing 1-0.
The Old Trafford side then visited Moldova. United took on Sheriff Tiraspol at the Zimbru Stadium. The Red Devils got their first points on the board with a 2-0 victory.
United now face another challenging task against Omonia. And speaking ahead of the game via the club’s official website, Ten Hag is aware that Neil Lennon’s team will be looking to make a statement.
“We have to be ready for a team that is well motivated. They play on the front foot. For them, it is the game of their life, so we have to be ready to face that and to play our game and that is one of the lessons from Sunday.”
Omonia currently sit fourth in Cypriot football’s first division. Lennon took charge of the team in March and has guided them to the group stages of an elite European competition.
The Northern Irish head coach is well known in the United Kingdom. Lennon has previously managed Celtic in two spells and was successful at the Glasgow-based club.
United will have their work cut out. It will be interesting to see what sort of reaction the Red Devils have after the disappointment at the Etihad Stadium during the weekend.
The Old Trafford side were on a four-game win streak in the Premier League before Manchester City beat us 6-3. We were outplayed in every area of the pitch.
