Players at Manchester United certain that Cristiano Ronaldo will angle for a move again in January
Manchester United players are certain that Cristiano Ronaldo will once again look to leave the club in January, according to The Sun (h/t Metro). The members of the squad are frustrated with the Portugal international as well.
Ronaldo missed most of the pre-season under new manager Erik ten Hag. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner was angling for a move away during the summer. However, the transfer window shut and the 37-year-old has remained in Manchester.
The Sun also claims that a source has revealed the mood in United the dressing room around Ronaldo. While the players were eager to see the Portuguese back, it has now become a problem due to the 37-year-old’s preparation.
“All the players loved it when Ronaldo came back to United last season but they are frustrated he missed pre-season.
“The manager put a lot of work into giving the squad detailed information about what he wanted them to do and how he wanted them to play.
During the transfer window, Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, reached out to several clubs to offer his clients services. However, the likes of Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich all declined the opportunity to sign the 37-year-old.
Since then, while Ten Hag has the Portuguese in his plans, Ronaldo has not seen a lot of game time under the Dutch manager. The 37-year-old has started just two games in all competitions so far.
And it seems unlikely that Ronaldo’s situation will change unless the Portuguese immerses himself
in Ten hag’s ideas.“He needs to realise it’s only going to work if he tunes into ten Hag’s plans.”
Ronaldo ended the previous campaign as United’s top goalscorer. The 37-year-old was one of the Red Devils’ best players, with every other forward failing to make a considerable impact.
However, the likes of Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho have found their feet under Ten Hag. The English duo have been integral to the team’s four-game win streak in the league.
