Memphis Depay and Christian Pulisic amongst the nine players Manchester United had a chance to sign this summer
Manchester United had the chance to sign nine players during the summer transfer window, including the likes of Memphis Depay from Barcelona and Christian Pulisic from Chelsea, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on YouTube (h/t Express).
The Red Devils’ defensive arrivals this summer include the likes of Tyrell Malacia and Lisandro Martinez. The duo have settled into the team immediately. However, the Manchester-based club were also in for Sergino Dest and Thomas Meunier to bolster the right-hand side of the back four.
In the middle of the park, Christian Eriksen arrived as a free agent early in the summer. However, it took a bit of time to get in another fresh face for the engine room with the arrival of Casemiro from Real Madrid late in the window.
United were linked with a number of players to bolster the middle of the park. The Old Trafford side were offered Leandro Paredes and had conversations with Juventus about Weston McKennie. Brighton & Hove Albion youngster Moises Caicedo was also up for grabs.
The attacking options
The Red Devils were seemingly looking to bolster the frontline and were successful in enticing Antony from Ajax. The 22-year-old was the only attacking addition that came through the door during the transfer window.
However, United were linked with several other forwards to reinforce the squad. Depay was linked with a move back to his former club. However, in the end, the 28-year-old stayed at Barcelona.
Pulisic was another name the Red Devils were after. The USMNT star has had a tough time at Chelsea since his move in 2019. The 23-year-old has not seen a lot of game time with the Stamford Bridge outfit.
Atletico Madrid winger Yannick Carrasco was also amongst the forwards United had an eye on. There was also the scope of getting Hirving Lozano from Napoli.

It remains to be seen whether the Red Devils decide to pursue any of these names in the coming future. After a poor start to the season, where we lost against Brighton and Brentford, Ten Hag has steadied our ship to a great extent in the league.
We have won four PL games on the trot and it seems that the Dutchman is starting to find faith in the team that he currently has.
