Club News: Donny van de Beek gives his verdict on Manchester United’s new signings

Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has praised manager Erik ten Hag for bringing ‘team players’ to the club this summer.

Speaking to United Review on the official club website (h/t Manchester Evening News), the midfielder praised his manager as United bought in six senior new faces this summer.

“I know them already, as a player. So I know what they are capable of and they are really good players, so they will help us for sure. They are nice people, but they are also team players.”

Lisandro Martinez, Christian Eriksen, Casemiro, Antony and Tyrell Malacia have all made their debuts for the club, while Martin Dubravka is yet to play for his new team.

Martinez has proved that height does not matter and is literally one of the best players in the team. Antony got off to the best start as he scored on his debut while Malacia has also cemented his place in the team.

Eriksen seems to have rejuvenated the midfield while Casemiro is yet to perform up to his level. Van de Beek, meanwhile, is yet to establish himself in the team, despite joining the club in 2020.

The player has struggled for game time and even went out on loan for the second half of the last season to Everton. The 25-year-old is far from becoming a regular and has made three league appearances this season, all from the bench.

It remains to be seen if the Dutch midfielder resurrects his career under former manager Ten Hag. With the World Cup in November, the 25-year-old will hope to play to make the national team for the tournament.

United suffered a controversial loss against Real Sociedad in the Europa League last Friday. With the Premier League games this weekend postponed, their next game is likely to be against Sheriff in the UEFA Europa League.

Ten Hag will hope for a win, while Donny will hope to start or at least play an important role in that fixture. Many thought he could see his playing time increase under the former Ajax boss, but Van de Beek has only managed 19 minutes of league football this season.
