Erik ten Hag has good things to say about Arsenal as they visit Old Trafford to face Manchester United next
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is wary of the challenge Arsenal pose as they visit Old Trafford next. Mikel Arteta’s side have started the season on a high note, going unbeaten in their first five games.
The Gunners face the Red Devils next. United had a disappointing start to the season. However, we have found our feet in recent games, having won three on the trot.
Speaking ahead of the fixture via Metro, Ten Hag admitted the Red Devils have a challenge on their hands. The Dutch manager feels the Arsenal side are in tune at the moment with Arteta at the helm.
“I have seen Arsenal, tough opponent.
“They’ve started really well this season and you can see this is a team who have been together longer, who have a coach bringing his philosophy to the team.”
United start to the 2022/23 campaign saw Brighton & Hove Albion visit Old Trafford in what was Ten Hag’s first competitive game in the Old Trafford dugout. However, the match did not go to plan as we lost 2-1 to the Seagulls.
Then the Red Devils took a trip to the Gtech Community Stadium. The game turned out to be an eye opener for fans and management alike as United conceded four goals in the first 35 minutes.
However, the last three fixtures have instilled hope once again. Ten Hag has made some bold decisions, benching star players. And we have started with the same XI since. Now, the gaffer seems to have hinted at a change.
“So for us it’s a good test and I’m really looking forward to it. We will pick the right XI to start. But as you see, it’s not only a team, we have a squad.
“The subs who came on [against Leicester] did really well. I’m happy with that and that’s what we have to construct further.”
Most people felt the Old Trafford side would roll over as Liverpool came to Manchester. However, the team looked sharp and hungry. We went on to beat our bitter rivals 2-1 in the North West Derby.
The subsequent games have seen United friend out 1-0 victories against Southampton and Leicester City. The likes of Harry Maguire and Cristiano Ronaldo have been relegated to the bench.

It remains to be seen how Ten Hag opts to line up against Arsenal. In the last 10 fixtures against the Gunner at Old Trafford, United have managed four wins and four draws. Hopefully, we can be the first to beat the North London side this season.
