Frenkie de Jong situation ‘evolving’ as Manchester United still in contact with Barcelona star’s agent
Manchester United are still in contact with Ali Dursun, the agent of Frenkie de Jong, over a possible late swoop for the Barcelona star with the transfer window about to close, according to Rudy Galetti on Twitter (h/t Express).
United have been after the Holland international for some time now. Erik ten Hag seems to be keen on a reunion with the 25-year-old. And the ‘next hours will be decisive’ with the situations ‘evolving’.
The Red Devils are apparently done with their summer business, with Martin Dubravka supposed to be the final arrival of the summer. However, a move for De Jong isn’t ruled out yet.

However, the Barcelona midfielder is not keen on a move to Manchester. United failed to make it to the top four last season. As a result, the side missed out on the Champions League.
The summer saw an exodus of midfielders from the Manchester-based club. Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic were amongst a number of players to leave the club. It led to the number six and number eight positions being weakened.
However, United have made some quality additions to Ten Hag’s squad. Christian Eriksen arrived as a free agent after a fruitful short spell at Brentford. The Denmark international has played in the central-midfield position against Liverpool and Southampton.
Casemiro has also arrived from Real Madrid. The Brazilian has been one of the best defensive midfielders over the years. The 30-year-old has won every trophy there is to win with Los Blancos. Now, he comes to Manchester to provide solidity in the middle of the park.
