Ajax forward Antony officially announced as new Manchester United signing for €100 million
Manchester United have officially announced the signing of Antony from Ajax. The Red Devils will pay the Dutch outfit €100 million for the Brazilian, via Manchester Evening News.
Antony has signed a five-year deal with the Manchester-based club with the option of an additional year. United will pay Ajax €95 million plus €5 million in add-ons for the 22-year-old, making him the Red Devils’ second-most expensive signing.
The deal has been announced subject to international clearance and agreement of personal terms. United apparently will not be able to feature the Brazilian against Leicester City.
Erik ten Hag has seemingly been after Antony since his arrival in the Old Trafford dugout. And now, United have been able to get the deal over the line, reuniting the Dutchman and Brazilian in Manchester.
United evidently needed to bolster their attacking options. Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at the club apparently still remains uncertain. The Portugal international finished the previous campaign as our highest goalscorer.
The likes of Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho failed to make an impact last season. They failed to live up to fans’ expectations. Anthony Martial left the club on loan in January after not being given opportunities.

The start of the new campaign has been disappointing as well. Our players failed to score in the first two competitive fixtures of Ten Hag’s reign in the Premier League. And the depth in the forward line isn’t great, with Anthony Elanga and Jadon Sancho the other options.
Last season under Ten Hag, Antony made 33 appearances for Ajax, scoring 12 goals and providing 10 assists. The Brazilian was an essential member of the team that went on to become Eredivisie champions.

Antony plays on the right-wing. The 22-year-old likes to cut inside and take on defenders. He possesses the Brazilian flair, mesmerising people with his feet. Hopefully, United’s new signing can replicate the same form in Manchester.
