Ralf Rangnick advised Chelsea boss Tuchel against signing Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo

Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo is still looking for a move away from the club, with Jorge Mendes pushing Chelsea once again to get the Portuguese. Previously, Ralf Rangnick had suggested Thomas Tuchel against signing the 37-year-old.

According to the Independent (h/t Manchester Evening News), Ronaldo’s agent is in talks with the Blues to make a move for the 37-year-old before the transfer window shuts.

It’s also claimed by The Times (h/t Manchester Evening News) that United’s former interim boss had advised the Stamford Bridge side’s manager against pursuing Ronaldo.

Rangnick and Tuchel are close friends. The current Austria national team head coach played a part in the 37-year-old’s move to Chelsea not materialising earlier this summer.

Ronaldo evidently wants to move away from United. The Portuguese ended the previous campaign as our top goalscorer. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner was amongst the handful of players that performed well last season.

However, in the end, the Red Devils failed to make it into the top four and missed out on Champions League football. Ronaldo is at the top of the goalscoring charts in the UCL.

The 37-year-old missed most of pre-season in an apparent move to force a transfer away from United. However, the Portuguese is still in Manchester, with the transfer window closing soon.

Ronaldo hasn’t had the best of starts to the new season under Erik ten Hag. The Portuguese has started just one game out of the four United have played.

Now, it remains to be seen whether Ronaldo seemingly gets his wish. Under the new gaffer, the 37-year-old looks to have lost his place in the XI. The Portuguese is a player who evidently expects to play every minute.
