Erik ten Hag approves Birmingham City loan move for Manchester United youngster Hannibal Mejbri
According to Fabrizio Romano, Erik ten Hag has given the green light to Manchester United youngster Hannibal Mejbri for completing his loan transfer to Birmingham City this summer.
The 19-year-old is on the verge of breaking out at Man United but this summer window and the change in management has, to some extent, paused his chances of getting more minutes for the senior team.
Ten Hag signed Christian Eriksen earlier this summer and while Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic left the club this summer, the Dutchman has not preferred to play the Tunisia international in his midfield at all.
Mejbri appeared in two Premier League games for the Red Devils last season and made an impression among the fans with his aggressive style of play and determination.
A move to Birmingham City could be what he needs to complete that final stretch of progress before making himself a regular in our senior set-up. John Eustace doesn’t have a plethora of world-class options in midfield and could play Mejbri in games this season.
They are currently 21st in the Championship with just five points from six games. Ten Hag would certainly keep an eye on the teenager during his time with the St. Andrew’s outfit.
Mejbri was training with the first team during the pre-season and was handed minutes in friendlies earlier this summer. Elsewhere, the club seems to be on the verge of announcing a deal for Ajax winger Antony.

The Dutch manager clearly wants to impose his identity on this team and the 22-year-old Brazil international could be the final piece of his jigsaw puzzle. A backup goalkeeper to compete with David de Gea, would also be welcome.
