Manchester United are interested in Eintracht Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp, according to Sky Germany (h/t Metro). The Red Devils want to add another shot-stopper to the squad this transfer window.

United haven’t seemed to initiate any contacts yet for the German international. The 32-year-old is being looked at to add competition to the side following the departure of Dean Henderson.

Trapp has amassed six caps for Germany in his career. The goalkeeper was one of Frankfurt’s main men as they triumphed to the Europa League title.

The German has had a vast career, having also played for Paris Saint-Germain. However, he was a backup for the Ligue 1 outfit after the arrival of Keylor Navas.

Trapp went back to Germany from France in 2018 and has played regularly for the Bundesliga outfit. A move to Old Trafford would see him vying with David de Gea for a place in the XI.

The Spaniard has had a poor start to the new season. United lost the first two games of the 2022/23 campaign under Erik ten Hag. In the Brentford game, the Red Devils conceded four goals in 35 minutes. De Gea made a couple of errors at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Ten Hag seemingly wants the team to play out from the back. And De Gea hasn’t looked comfortable with the ball at his feet. The 31-year-old has found it challenging to play short.

However, the Liverpool game brought the best out of our number one. The Spaniard was one of our best players last season. The 31-year-old stood out as the rest of the team faltered.

More Manchester United New

The World Cup in Qatar is just a few months away. Most players will evidently want to play regularly to make the squads of their respective national sides. It remains to be seen whether Trapp would be interested in a move to United this summer.
