Transfer News: Manchester United are set to loan out Hannibal Mejbri this summer
According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United coach Erik ten Hag has agreed to send teenage sensation Hannibal Mejbri out on loan this summer.
The 19-year-old could head out on loan with interest in the attacking midfielder said to be high. It is understood that three Championship clubs have made a provisional offer for the player, with one unnamed side leading the race.
He was part of the pre-season squad and even featured in three matches for the Red Devils. He, however, did not get any start as there was plenty of competition in his preferred position.
Mejbri joined the Man United youth side from Monaco youth in 2019. The 19-year-old played 15 games in all competitions last season, including two games for the senior team. He managed to score one goal and assist another four in the process.
The Tunisia international was impressive during the two games he featured in for United. Notably, he came off the bench against Liverpool in April, when Man United were thrashed 4-0 at Anfield. His little cameo was impressive and he then played more than an hour in the Red Devils’ final game of the season against Crystal Palace.
Man United believe that a loan move will benefit the player, and rightly so. The teenager has very high potential in him and more game time will only help him break into the first team faster. Ten Hag wants him to get more experience and taste of senior football, and any team that wins his signature will have to guarantee him regular playing time.
Mejbri is also said to be keen on a move as he appreciates the need to play regular football. He is also in contention to make the Tunisia squad for the World Cup in November. A regular for his national team. The 19-year-old has 16 appearances for his country.
