Erik ten Hag displeased with the lack of signings as Frenkie de Jong deal drags on for Manchester United

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is displeased with the lack of signings at the club during the transfer window, according to the Independent (h/t Express). And the Red Devils are also said to be unhappy about the lack of progress in the Frenkie de Jong deal.

Fabrizio Romano on his Youtube channel claims that United are angry as they have gotten nowhere with the signing of the Dutch midfielder. The Red Devils have been negotiating with Barcelona for over two months.

The former Ajax boss ‘isn’t as happy as he could be’ with the business that has been done as of yet during his first summer in the Old Trafford dugout. The Dutch manager has been left wanting more and feels that by now, United should’ve brought in more players that have been on his wishlist, like De Jong.

United’s summer business so far

The Red Devils have made three major signings as of yet. United started off the spending this summer by buying Tyrell Malacia from Eredivisie club Feyenoord. The left-back provides additional cover in our side.

Christian Eriksen was the second major player to walk through the doors at the Manchester-based club. The Denmark international arrived on a free transfer after culminating his short stint with Brentford in the previous campaign.

Lisandro Martinez made it three for incoming this window as the Argentine arrived from Ajax. The 24-year-old already has experience playing under Ten Hag. He spent three seasons with the Dutch manager in Amsterdam.

We’ve also been pursuing other targets, but nothing official has materialised. We still need to focus on various areas of the pitch going into next season. We need more signings to give Ten Hag the best chance to be competitive.

United is short of a quality midfielder after the departure of Paul Pogba. We don’t have a good number eight in the side, although Eriksen has been deployed in the role by the gaffer during pre-season. And De Jong is considered one of the best in world football.

We have bolstered some areas of the pitch. But fans feel we need more elite players in the right-back, pivot and centre-forward roles to have any hope of challenging for the major titles.
