Donny van de Beek excited about Manchester United signing Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez
Donny van de Beek is looking forward to watching Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez feature for Manchester United next season. The Dutch midfielder has been impressed by the duo so far during pre-season.
Eriksen and Martinez were the Red Devils’ second and third signings of the summer window. Tyrell Malacia was the first major signing we made under Erik ten Hag this window.
Van de Beek, speaking to the club’s official website, feels the Denmark international and Argentinian have been settling in nicely at United. The 25-year-old believes the two can help the team a lot in the upcoming campaign.
“I think they [Martinez and Eriksen] are all enjoying it.
“Of course, everyone is doing their best to make them feel happy and make them feel at home.
“I have a really good feeling [about them both]. They’re doing great and they will help us a lot.”
Ten Hag has instilled some belief back in fans during pre-season after the debacle in the 2021/22 campaign. United were being tipped by people to challenge for the Premier League title. In the end, we even failed in our objective to make it to the top four.
We made some shrewd signings last summer. Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho bolstered the side. But apart from the Portuguese, none were able to live up to expectations.
Since Ten Hag’s arrival, it’s been a different story, though. The team looks more up for it this time around. The Asia and Australia tour has shown glimpses of the changes in our mentality.
Players like Harry Maguire, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Sancho looked devoid of confidence in the previous campaign. But the Dutch manager has been able to slowly get the best out of them.
Hopefully, Ten Hag can make the side continue in this fine vein of form. The new gaffer in the Old Trafford dugout has come with his own ideas and brand of football. His teams are known to play an attacking brand that is easy on the eyes and also rich in success.
