Corinthians are interested in Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo
Corinthians are supposedly keeping an eye on what the future holds for Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United. Duilio Monteiro Alves, the president of the Brazilian club, has said that he’s interested in the Portuguese.
Ronaldo’s future with the Red Devils this summer is uncertain and Corinthians have emerged as an unlikely destination for the 37-year-old. But the president of the Brazilian club is excited at the improbable prospect of the Portuguese playing for the Timao.
Speaking via Mundo Deportivo (h/t The Daily Mail), Alves admits that there have been no actual approaches from the Brazilian side. But it’s a ‘dream’ for the president of Corinthians.
“It’s true, I dream big. This is Corinthians!
“Aren’t Willian and Renato Augusto here? In football everything is possible and I have the obligation to give my best for Corinthians.
“Is it possible? I don’t know. We didn’t try, we didn’t investigate, there was no such possibility, but we are keeping an eye on him. Imagine that he suddenly wants to play in Brazil…”
Ronaldo is one of the biggest stars in the world. The Portuguese is amongst the sport’s most recognizable faces and has earned his reputation as a fearsome goal scorer. The 37-year-old also has the most international goals to his name.
It’s not unheard of to see world-class professionals go from European football to South America. But those players are usually on a decline in their careers. The same cannot be said of Ronaldo who still has a few years left in his tank.
While a move would be a coup for Brazilian football, fans can’t see it happening as of now, with Ronaldo seemingly wanting to play Champions League football.
Ronaldo is still one of the best players in the world when it comes to putting the ball in the back of the net. Last season, the Portuguese was Man United’s top goal scorer. Moreover, he led the line when no other attacker was able to make an impact in a red shirt.

It wouldn’t be wise for the Red Devils to let the 37-year-old go either at this juncture. The new season is about to start and we don’t have many options on the bench who can make a difference playing up front.
The Portuguese has a year left on his deal at Old Trafford. Hopefully, he decides to stay and we get to see more of the same Ronaldo in the upcoming campaign.
