Manchester United competing with six other clubs to sign RB Salzburg youngster Benjamin Sesko
Manchester United have to contend with six other clubs in the race to sign Benjamin Sesko, according to Mundo Deportivo (h/t Express). Chelsea and Liverpool are amongst the clubs interested in the Slovenian.
The other sides include Spanish giants Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid alongside Paris Saint-Germain. All these European giants are keeping tabs on the RB Salzburg striker.
United have registered an interest because the club want to bring in an attacker before the end of the transfer window. The uncertainty surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo makes it an important department to focus on.
But it will be challenging to compel the Austrian giants to part ways with a talented prospect like Sesko. Therefore, only a hefty fee can work and Salzburg are supposedly asking for £54 million.
United are in a complicated position at the moment. The club have invested in the squad this summer, but the focus has been on the defence. Lisandro Martinez and Tyrell Malacia have been brought in to bolster the backline.
Christian Eriksen was the other signing of this window. The Denmark international arrived on a free transfer. The attacking midfielder is capable of picking out passes and creating chances.
But while we have other players in the squad who can open up opposition defences, we lack a goalscorer, apart from Ronaldo. Anthony Martial has been impressive during pre-season, but his last campaign was disappointing.
Marcus Rashford has also played through the middle of our attack in the past. But the England international form has dipped considerably and we can’t count on him as of yet.

Sesko hasn’t proven himself consistently as of yet. But the 19-year-old has the potential to be a superstar. For the time being, if we sign the Slovenian, it’ll give Ten Hag an extra option to choose up front.
