The agent of Manchester United target Frenkie de Jong working on exit from Barcelona as ‘new cub ready’
Ali Dursun, the agent of Manchester United Frenkie de Jong, is working on the midfielder’s exit from Barcelona with a ‘new club ready’ for the Dutchman, according to De Telegraaf (h/t Express).
De Jong’s agent has seemingly threatened the Catalans by stating a side is ready to take his client away from the Blaugrana. Dursun has also asked the Spanish giants to pay the midfielder what he’s owed in deferred wages.
The 25-year-old prefers not to move away from Catalunya. But if he were to move, Chelsea and United are waiting in the wings to capture the Dutch national’s signature.
De Jong joined Barcelona in the summer of 2019. The Dutchman has become one of the best players in Spain. But the Catalans are looking to sell their star this summer.
De Jong has played under Erik ten Hag in Amsterdam. The new United boss had a successful spell with the Eredivisie champions. The 25-year-old midfielder was also a crucial part of it.
United need quality in midfield
The Dutch manager played De Jong in the midfield pivot, where he shone. The Red Devils are in need of a quality midfielder at the moment and the Barcelona midfielder fits the bill.
The current squad at United boasts of Scott McTominay and Fred. The duo have played the majority of games in the double pivot in previous seasons under various managers. But fans aren’t convinced of their qualities.
We’ve lost a star midfielder in Paul Pogba this summer. While the Frenchman didn’t live up to his potential in Manchester, his quality cannot be undermined. The 29-year-old was an influential squad member and brought eyeballs to the club.
