Manchester United will take Tarik Karic on trial in September
Manchester United will monitor Bosnian goalkeeper Tarik Karic when he joins the club on trial from September, reports the Manchester Evening News.
The 16-year-old Sarajevo-born has been offered the chance to spend some time at United’s youth set-up from September. The goalkeeper is currently in the academy of Bosnian side FK Zeljeznicar.
He was given permission by his parent club to join Man United on trial. This could prove to be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the 16-year-old to earn a place for himself at one of Europe’s top clubs.
His parent club not only gave him permission to join the Manchester side but also announced details of his trial on the club’s Facebook page. It is fair to say that opportunity has come calling for the teenager.
“The head of Manchester United’s scouting service, David Harrison, sent an invitation to FK Zeljeznicar and talented goalkeeper Tarik Karic to stay and train with Manchester United’s peers from September 11 to 18. FK Zeljeznicar proudly issued permission to Karic to go to Old Trafford.”
Karic has been highly rated and now has a chance to showcase his talent at one of the best clubs in England. The keeper-sweeper made a total of 25 appearances for Zeljeznicar’s Under-17 and Under-19 sides last season, keeping a total of nine clean sheets.
A very talented young keeper, he could have a future at United if he impresses the bosses during his trial. He is also a part of the Bosnia-Herzegovina Under-17 team. If selected, he could improve at the club and dare we say go on to replace the long-serving David de Gea in goal.
But even if he is selected, the club will not be permitted to sign him till he turns 18, due to Brexit regulations. That will happen in September 2023 and this indicates that United a building not only a team for the present but also for the future.

The player still has a huge mountain to climb. He can expect competition from various players and he would have to perform exceptionally good to be offered a United contract. As for the present, the player signed his first contract with Zeljeznicar last month.
