OGC Nice interested in signing Manchester United full-back Alex Telles this summer
According to Tutto Mercato (h/t Manchester Evening News), Ligue 1 side OGC Nice are interested in bringing Manchester United left-back Alex Telles to the Allianz Riviera.
The Brazilian full-back joined the Red Devils from Porto in 2020. The 29-year-old has since then played second fiddle to Luke Shaw in the starting XI.
With the arrival of Tyrell Malacia, Telles seems to have dropped even further in the pecking order. Game time is now not a guarantee for the Brazilian defender at Old Trafford.
Telles has featured 50 times for United since 2020. With Shaw being injury prone, the Brazilian has been provided with ample opportunities.
But fans haven’t been convinced by the 29-year-old’s performances. The former Porto star has many qualities when going forward. The Brazilian puts in good crosses and is decent in the final third of the pitch.
It’s Telles’ contribution in the defence that has left fans wanting more from him. United’s defensive frailties were on full display last season as the side conceded 57 goals in the Premier League.
Erik ten Hag’s first major signing for the Red Devils was Malacia. The former Feyenoord left-back is a promising prospect. The 22-year-old experienced a lot of first-team football with the Dutch side before moving to Manchester.
Now the gaffer has three options at his disposal. Many fans would feel it’s redundant to keep a player like Telles on our books if he’s likely to not be in the squad often. But with Shaw’s injury record, it’d be wise to have another backup.

Next season will be a long one for us. We’re playing in the Europa League, which adds more games in midweek. On top of every other competition, the World Cup in Qatar is another consideration next season for players.
