Southampton are willing to part ways with Manchester United target Kyle Walker-Peters
According to the Sun, Southampton are willing to part ways with Manchester United target right-back Kyle Walker-Peters for around £40million this summer.
It is no secret that the Red Devils need reinforcement in the right-back area for next season. Aaron Wan-Bissaka has failed to convince on a regular basis. Diego Dalot is talented but he needs competition to thrive.
Kyle Walker-Peters has been one of the Premier League’s most impressive right-backs in recent seasons. He has been extremely impressive for the Saints and could be set for his next big move to another club.
The 25-year-old joined the Saints from Tottenham in 2020 and has since then grown from strength to strength in Ralph Hassenhutl’s side. He is an attacking right-back who is also equally adept in defence as well.
In 37 matches for the Saints this season, the 25-year-old has scored two goals and provided four assists across all competitions. One thing that makes Walker-Peters’s stand out is his versatility of being able to play in multiple positions.
The English full-back is capable of playing at left-back, right-back, right-midfield and left-midfield as well. This makes him a huge asset for any manager and Erik ten Hag will love to have him in the squad for next season.
At 25, Walker-Peters is still very young and has a lot of time to develop. He has the ability to become one of the best right-backs in the Premier League and under Erik ten Hag, he may be able to realise his true potential.
Around £40million for the Saints man might seem a little outlandish and Man United can look to negotiate a little with Southampton to bring the fee down. Regardless, it could be worth investing in a young player.
