Transfer News: Ex-Manchester United star Jesse Lingard considering Saudi Arabia move
According to Manchester Evening News, former Manchester United star Jesse Lingard is considering a move to Saudi Arabia after leaving Old Trafford on a free transfer this summer.
The Athletic (Subscription Required) claim that the English international wants to sort out his future by next week and wants to be at a new club by Friday and whilst he seems open to a move to Saudi Arabia, MLS is clearly not an option.
Lingard left Manchester United, a club he has been a part of since 2008 on a free transfer this summer after not renewing his contract. One of the highly rated prospects coming out of Carrington, his top-flight career has been rather mixed.
The English attacking midfielder who was considered to be a big sensation when he broke through into the senior team initially had a couple of impressive seasons before withering off. He then went out on loan to West Ham and rediscovered his mojo.
Man United decided to keep him at the club last season after his impressive performances for the Hammers but did not give him enough opportunities for him to show his quality and this meant that Lingard was stagnating.
A move away from Old Trafford seemed like the best decision for his career. After all, Lingard is 29 years old and it is now or never for the attacking midfielder. He has to make a move that can reignite his career.
As we have seen during his time on loan at West Ham, Lingard can be exceptional when he is the creative fulcrum of the team. It isn’t entirely wrong to say that there are many Premier League clubs that can do with a player of Lingard’s abilities.
Why the English talent is considering a move to Saudi Arabia is not evident. At his age, he can still play for a top European club and hope that can represent his team in UEFA’s club competitions.

Jesse Lingard is a player of immense potential. Let’s hope he gets to realise it in England and not elsewhere, where he will not be in the limelight at all.
