Tyrell Malacia sends a message after his first outing for Manchester United
Tyrell Malacia has provided a message after making his first outing for Manchester United in the 4-0 victory over Liverpool. Malacia was brought in from Feyenoord as the first signing of Erik ten Hag’s tenure, and he looks set to be a key part of the boss’ plans from here on out.
Malacia was subbed on at half-time to get his first minutes under his belt donning the Man United shirt. He came on and showcased some glimpses of quality here and there, albeit the performance not being among his best when compared to his time in the Netherlands.
Speaking in the post-match interview with MUTV (h/t Manchester United’s official website), the Dutch international has admitted that he feels ecstatic to be in his current position. He also set an ultimatum for himself, intending to make an impact for the Red Devils moving forward.
“I’m very happy. It feels amazing to be here, to wear this shirt and play with these people. Of course. It’s a dream for me to play there [the Premier League] and now I’m here. [I hope to add] some good defensive [work], hope to get some assists and get some energy to the team.”
Decent start from Malacia!
While the 22-year-old could not showcase his quality in the best possible manner, one must always give him time to adapt to his new teammates and get accustomed to the unfamiliar surroundings in the process. As such, the fans must give him some patience to make a case for himself in the future.
The switch to the Premier League is not always easy because of the challenges it would bring to the table. Malacia must be ready to take them on from here on out, which the full-back can do, looking at how he has fared well for club and country in the past year or so.
The Man United ace’s relatively low price tag of £12.9million in guaranteed fees would certainly help as the pressure on him would be low. At the same time, the supporters must also be wary not to put too many expectations on Malacia from the get-go, even if he can deal with them.

There is quite a lot of competition for the left-back spot, with Luke Shaw, Alex Telles, Brandon Williams and Alvaro Fernandez posing threats to Malacia at this moment. Fortunately for the new signing, he may not need to worry about minutes as Telles and Williams could be heading out this summer.
Fernandez, on the other hand, could be in line to leave Old Trafford on a loan spell giving Malacia the best possible ground to succeed with us. Let’s hope to see that happen as ten Hag officially kicks things off with the hope of building a long-lasting dynasty in Manchester.
