Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel not keen to sign Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo
According to The Independent, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is not keen to sign Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer transfer window. The new owners at Stamford Bridge are interested in the idea of signing the superstar, but they will not target him against their manager’s wishes.
Man United would undoubtedly be delighted with this development as they are not interested in selling Ronaldo this summer. That is the case even with his desire to leave Old Trafford, but the forward has found it difficult to find suitors even with Jorge Mendes holding meetings with a host of clubs.
Unless Tuchel’s stance changes drastically, the Blues are unlikely to target Cristiano, with Bayern Munich and Napoli also ruling out a move for the former Real Madrid man. That means Ronaldo could see a situation in which he would have to remain in Manchester beyond this transfer window.
Ronaldo to stay at Man Utd?
Ronaldo has not even returned to take part in the training sessions that were held by Erik ten Hag so far. The Portuguese international’s absence is down to personal reasons, but the timing does not help with the fact that he wants to look for a fresh challenge to play in the Champions League.
As such, should Ronaldo return to the squad, it would create a difficult environment within the team which ten Hag must be prepared to take care of. That is especially the case, looking at the efforts the attacker has put in to facilitate an exit through his super-agent Mendes.
After all, it is claimed that Ronaldo is ready to significantly reduce his wages to leave, so one may wonder how his teammates would react if he stays in the future. At the same time. The West London club has not made any firm decisions just yet, which means that they could still prove to be a concern.
Some sections of the fanbase have started to grow frustrated by the 37-year-old’s actions, which is quite understandable indeed. After all, the timing certainly does not help ten Hag with the team being close to taking part in their first pre-season friendly of this summer.

While Tuchel’s actions certainly boost our chances of keeping the ex-Juventus superstar, one may wonder about the repercussions that could follow should a stay be on the cards. Let’s hope that ten Hag will realise the risks and manage the situation with the entire squad if there is a need for it. That seems to be a likely scenario with Ronaldo having failed to generate a lot of interest so far.
