Dylan Levitt has left Manchester United to join Dundee Utd on a permanent transfer
According to the club’s official website, Dylan Levitt has left Manchester United to join Dundee Utd in a permanent move in this summer transfer window. The English club has announced the deal after reaching an agreement with the Scottish outfit regarding the fee over the youngster’s sale.
Levitt has also passed his medical before finalising the move to Dundee United this summer. That being said, he is still waiting in line to receive international clearance to join up with the Scottish Premiership side ahead of the next season.
According to Daily Mail, the Welsh international has signed a contract until 2024 with Dundee after being on loan with them in the previous campaign. Man United will receive £300,000k in transfer fees for the midfielder’s signature after facilitating the permanent move.
Puzzling business from Man Utd
This piece of business done by the Red Devils board has shocked some supporters as the 21-year-old was not even given a tryout in the pre-season friendlies. One would have thought that Levitt had warranted a chance after his excellent spell on loan in Scotland last season.
That is especially the case as Levitt was successfully able to replicate that form at the international level as well. However, we have not given him a chance to prove his worth even after the spots that have been freed up in the midfield following the massive exodus we saw in that position.
Perhaps that could be down to the other youngsters who are competing with Levitt to prove their worth to Erik ten Hag. The likes of Hannibal Mejbri, Zidane Iqbal and James Garner fall into that category, so their presence, coupled with the players in the first team and the incomings like Christian Eriksen, makes it understandable why we have sold Levitt.
Even so, selling Levitt right now does raise some questions as he has not grown to become a fully-fledged regular at this moment. In fact, he has shown significant progress in the last year, so it can be argued that the Mancunians should have sold him in the future if a departure was the only outcome.

After all, Levitt could have earned us more money if he continued to develop in this trajectory with another loan spell elsewhere. However, that is not what happened, so it remains to be seen with hindsight whether the club made the right call by selling him early and preventing the risk of losing his market value in the future.
