Erik ten Hag is speaking daily with Manchester United target Frenkie de Jong
According to Gerard Romero via Twitch, Although Frenkie de Jong and Erik ten Hag are in frequent contact, Manchester United and Barcelona have not yet reached an agreement on the terms of a contract.
This summer, Ten Hag has made it his main mission to sign his old Ajax protégé, and after weeks of negotiations, United believed they were close to a deal for a fee of about €65m plus an add-ons package of €20m add-ons.
However, the deal’s structure continues to be a point of contention between the two clubs, with Barca wanting a higher guaranteed amount up front.
It is believed that even though there hasn’t been any official move from the player to accept our proposal, he remains in contact with Ten Hag and they are speaking daily.
Looking at how the Dutch countrymen performed throughout their time at Ajax, one can imagine that we are in for some exciting days in the future. Because of the departures of Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba, we have frequently struggled to retain calmness and control in the middle of the field.
With de Jong’s arrival, that would no longer be the case, however, we must finish the transition quickly to end all the concerns. The fans would want to believe that Romero’s allegation is true and the player is also taking the move seriously.
There are indeed some suggestions that de Jong wants to remain at Camp Nou. We still haven’t come to terms with the player’s side of things, so that has caused some concerns. Let’s hope the board can overcome the last obstacle and expedite this step soon.
