Transfer News: Manchester United will not include Harry Maguire as a part of the Frenkie de Jong deal
According to the Sun, Manchester United will not involve the club captain Harry Maguire as a part of the Frenkie de Jong deal they are negotiating with Barcelona.
It is no secret that the Red Devils have been negotiating with Barcelona for Dutch midfield superstar Frenkie de Jong for the past few weeks and new developments keep cropping up every other day. The latest is that the Spanish club are seeking to add Harry Maguire as a part of the deal.
Maguire joined Man United from Leicester in 2019 and after a strong start to his career at Old Trafford, he has totally fallen off a cliff in recent times. Often ridiculed for his performances, Maguire has not turned out to be the signing he was expected to be.
Whilst a very able defender at times, he often tends to have a mistake in him and his mistakes often directly lead to goals. Regardless, it seems like Erik ten Hag still wants to give the Englishman another chance at Old Trafford.
Manchester United no doubt want Frenkie de Jong and are willing to pay the cash for it but they still seem a little off the valuation that Barcelona are demanding for their star man. Selling Maguire is not an option.
It is still not evident as to why the Red Devils don’t want to sell the English defender. He has failed to live up to the big money that Man United bought him for from the Foxes and if the right offer comes for him, the club must at least consider it.
Barcelona are willing to take a player who has failed to convince during his time at Old Trafford and it will only likely bring down the money involved in Man United’s pursuit to sign the talented Frenkie de Jong.
