Nicolas Tagliafico is set for a transfer switch amid Manchester United interest
According to AD, Manchester United target Nicolas Tagliafico could be on the move from Ajax Amsterdam in the coming days.
The fact that the Old Trafford team has yet to make their first summer signing shows just how bad of a scenario they are in. The days when United could purchase any player they desired without the player in question giving it a second thought are long gone.
Erik ten Hag has a lot of gaps to fill in the squad, so it makes sense that he would want to surround himself with people he knows.
Numerous Ajax players have been mentioned in connection with possible transfers to United. The Argentinian’s name is the latest addition to the list that includes Jurrien Timber, Antony, and Lisandro Martinez.
Now it is said that Owen Wijndal is close to a switch to Ajax, who might become the replacement for Tagliafico. The Argentinian is set for a move to a ‘top competition’. Even though it doesn’t indicate any direct link to Manchester United, Ten Hag’s interest in the player in recent weeks gives a solid ground for the transfer link.
Tagliafico joined Ajax from Independiente in January 2018 and has been a member for more than four years. The 29-year-old had played regularly for the majority of his career in the Netherlands.
However, the current campaign has seen less of the left-back position due to boss Erik ten Hag’s preference for Daley Blind. Tagliafico has only been able to make 29 appearances overall and just 22 in the league this season, in which he has produced three goals and three assists.
Tagliafico seems like a signing to the core. Ten Hag is aware of what the Argentine will have to give, but he would not start every game at the Theatre of Dreams.
This demonstrates that Ten Hag isn’t entirely at ease around either Alex Telles or Luke Shaw. Additionally, it can imply that one of these players will be traded during the current transfer window.

If we’re being honest, Telles gave a disappointing spell, but it’s hard to say whether Tagliafico is that much of an upgrade right now. Conversely, the Red Devils might be better off concentrating on the main targets for now as there are several positions that require more attention.
