Transfer News: Manchester United make offer for Leeds United winger Raphinha
According to Spanish outlet Sport (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United have seen an offer for Leeds United winger Raphinha rebuffed with the talented Brazilian apparently holding out for an offer from Barcelona.
Raphinha joined Leeds United from Stade Rennais in 2020 and it’s safe to say that he has gone on to become the White’s best player ever since. Honed by the artist that is Marcelo Bielsa, Raphinha has become one of the shining lights in a struggling Leeds side.
This season, the Brazilian has been a lone silver lining in a season of disappointment for Leeds as they struggled their way to a 17th-place finish in the League. The 25-year-old played 36 games this season scoring 11 goals and providing three assists across all competitions.
His performances for the club team have not gone unnoticed with the talented forward finding a consistent place in Tite’s Brazil national team.
Manchester United are not the only club interested in the player as this is turning out to be a huge transfer battle for Raphinha. Chelsea, Arsenal and Barcelona are all in the mix for the talented Brazilian.
When so many top clubs show interest in a particular player, the talent and abilities that the player possesses are pretty evident and that happens to be the case with Raphinha. Capable of playing on either wing, the Brazilian has a great eye for a goal and is outstanding with set-pieces.
That said, United need to ask themselves the question of whether they actually need a player like Raphinha. Of all the positions that Man United are looking to reinforce, the wing is a position that can wait a while.
With so many clubs interested in the player, it is very evident that a transfer battle is ensuing for Raphinha. Leeds United are not going to do any favours and will look to extract the maximum money possible to sell their prized asset- as they naturally should, given his importance for that team.
Leeds are also one of United’s fiercest rivals in England alongside Man City and Liverpool. It seems best to move on from the Brazilian and focus elsewhere. The club is pursuing a move for Antony of Ajax, who plays down the wings as well- and has prior experience of working with ten Hag.
