Jose Mourinho eyeing shock reunion with Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo

According to Italian outlet Retesport via SPORTbible (h/t Manchester Evening News), AS Roma are interested in signing Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United.

Ronaldo didn’t have the best time at Man United on his return to England but was still arguably our best player in a terrible season. But it remains to be seen if the 37-year-old would want to spend another season with a team that is not playing in the UEFA Champions League.

While Bayern Munich are not interested in signing Cristiano Ronaldo, AS Roma, led by Jose Mourinho, are. Ronaldo was previously handled by Mourinho at Real Madrid, and he is eager to work with him again.

It is believed that Serie A club Roma are “trying everything” to execute a sensational transfer for Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United. The news comes from former Roma defender Fabio Petruzzi who has informed them that the Portuguese superstar is being sought after by his former team.

Ronaldo would rejoin his former Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho if the unexpected deal were to take place. Mourinho is not the only Portuguese link as Ronaldo’s compatriot Tiago Pinto is in charge of the transfers at the Italian club.

United had a respectable finish in the PL thanks in large part to Ronaldo’s 24 goals and three assists from 39 games in all competitions last season. Even still, one might readily contend that he did not receive the finest assistance from the team at the time.

Given how unstable our team was on the pitch during the previous season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick, that is something that would make sense. One wonders how much Ronaldo could flourish when he has a strong system in place that is designed around him going forward.

Under ten Hag, the Red Devils have the chance to accomplish precisely that, although it is yet unclear whether it will be feasible. If stability can be established inside the locker room, having someone like Ronaldo in our ranks will always offer us a chance to succeed.

While Marcus Rashford has been struggling for a while, Edinson Cavani has departed the team. Mason Greenwood is suspended, and Anthony Martial’s future in our starting XI is up in the air.

Keeping Ronaldo, a serial winner, for at least another season, could help ten Hag see out his first season with a player who has seen and won everything in sight in English, Spanish and Italian football. But that could come back to bite us if the Dutchman doesn’t envisage a starting XI with CR7 in it, because given his status, Ronaldo would want to play as much as he can.
