Transfer News: Manchester United star Edinson Cavani offered to Rayo Vallecano
According to the Spanish outlet Marca, Manchester United star Edinson Cavani has offered his services to Rayo Vallecano for a potential transfer ahead of the next season. That being said, a move is far from being finalised at this moment which has kept things open for now.
Cavani has already left Old Trafford in this summer transfer window, having been released by Man United as a free agent. The attacker is currently out of contract, which means that he can engage in talks with other clubs over a potential move. Now, it seems that he may be making his way to La Liga this summer.
The Uruguayan has always desired to play in the Spanish top-flight at one point, and he could fulfil that should this move materialise in this summer transfer window. However, Cavani’s wage demands are a concern for Vallecano as the striker wants to earn around €4million per season should he sign for them.
Life after Cavani for Man Utd?
The 35-year-old saw his second season with us spiralling down to a bitter note, considering how he was non-existent for most of that period. Injuries constantly plagued him during that campaign which had kept him constantly sidelined, leading to seeing the status among the fans deteriorating as a result.
However, no one cannot take anything from the excellent first season the South American enjoyed in Manchester, helping us to a second-place finish in the Premier League in the process. His departure has left a gap that must be filled as no one in the squad can fulfil that role.
After all, Cristiano Ronaldo would need support as he is in the twilight of his playing career and cannot feature in every single game for us. Marcus Rashford is on the back of a difficult campaign, while Anthony Martial has had a torrid time on loan at Sevilla.
Mason Greenwood, meanwhile, is out of contention, which means that the lack of a natural centre-forward must be negated this summer. Ideally, a young reinforcement would be best under the current circumstance since Ronaldo would need to be replaced in the future as well.

We have not made any additions so far in the transfer market, so that is quite concerning, to say the least. Let’s hope that a solution can be found as we have been over-reliant on Ronaldo throughout the last season.
