Transfer News: Agent of Futch star Jurrien Timber spotted in Manchester
Timber joined Ajax from Feyenoord in 2014 and has since then progressed through the famed academy of the Amsterdam club before breaking into the first team in 2020. The talented defender has since gone on to become one of the most sought-after centre-backs in the world.
The 21-year-old played 43 games for Erik ten Hag’s team in the recently concluded season scoring three goals and providing two assists across all competitions. With a contract that expires in 2024, Ajax could choose to sell him to get maximum value for the Dutchman.
Manchester United and ten Hag are said to be keen on bringing the talented defender to Old Trafford. Despite recent setbacks, the agent of the player being in Manchester is likely to instigate the rumour mill into full flow.
Whilst Timber’s agent could be in Manchester for any reason, the links of the player to the club mean this is a story to keep an eye out for.
Raphael Varane as a centre-back will still be a great option for the Red Devils. The French World cup winner is as good as it gets but United need a strong defender to pair him with as none of the current options suffice.
The less said about Harry Maguire, the better. The English international has been an utter disappointment. Victor Lindelof has the quality no doubt but is extremely inconsistent to be a starter for a club of Man United’s stature.
Pairing the experience Raphael Varane with and young and upcoming centre-back like Jurrien Timber must be the way to go forward for Manchester United. The Frenchman can guide the youngster in a similar manner to how Sergio Ramos guided him at Real Madrid.
