Transfer News: Real Madrid want Manchester United wonderkid Alejandro Garnacho
According to Spanish outlet Defensa Central (h/t Manchester Evening News), Real Madrid are interested in signing talented Argentine wonderkid Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United this summer.
Garnacho joined Manchester United from Atletico Madrid in 2020 and has since then gone on to become one of the most highly-rated prospects in English football. A former Spain youth international, the teenage starlet has now chosen to represent Argentina.
The 17-year-old winger has played 34 times for the Red Devils youth team this season scoring 14 goals and providing six assists across all competitions. His performances haven’t gone unnoticed with the starlet being given his first-team debut at the end of the current campaign.
Real Madrid have now registered interest in the talented winger but Manchester United are said to be keen on tying the player down to a long-term deal. Madrid, who won the UEFA Champions League against Liverpool in May, already have Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr as two important, young starters down their flanks.
Reasons to worry?
Born in Madrid, if the biggest club in his hometown and arguably one of the biggest clubs in the world comes calling, there are reasons for Manchester United to worry about Garnacho’s future.
The Argentine wonderkid is one of the most exciting players in the world of football right now and with the correct development, it will be a surprise if he doesn’t go on to become one of the best wingers in the world.
Predominantly a left-winger who can sometimes also play on the right, Garnacho will offer any manager the flexibility he craves for. Add to this a great eye for a goal at such a young age and it is easy to understand why there is so much noise around the 17-year-old.
United have a plethora of talented wingers coming through the ranks. Facundo Pellistri, Amad Diallo and Alejandro Garnacho are more or less in the same age group and even Anthony Elanga who now finds himself in the first-team picture is almost of a similar group to these players.

If Manchester United can wave off Real Madrid’s interest in the player and tie him down to a long-term deal, then Alejandro Garnacho could become the player he is destined to become at Old Trafford. It remains to be seen if he manages to stay rooted and not get swayed by Los Blancos.
