Transfer News: Dean Henderson has agreed personal terms with Nottingham Forest
According to popular Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, English goalie Dean Henderson has agreed on personal terms with Nottingham Forest ahead of an expected loan move from Manchester United this summer.
Henderson joined Manchester United’s ranks in 2013 and has progressed through all the youth levels before impressing out on loan at Sheffield United. He has since broken into the first team at Old Trafford as an understudy to David de Gea.
A truly talented player, the English international has had opportunities hard to come by this season. The 25-year-old shot-stopper has played just five games this campaign across all competitions conceding seven goals.
Newly promoted Premier League club Nottingham Forest are keen on signing the English international on a loan move and it has now emerged that the player is open to the switch and has agreed on personal terms with Forest.
Game time?
For a very long time, Dean Henderson’s stocks kept rising on a steady scale. He even managed to displace David de Gea as United’s number one towards the end of the previous campaign.
However, injuries and covid meant that the English international who missed the Euros could not start the season for the Red Devils and hence the Spanish goalie got the nod. Since then, de Gea has been superhuman in his performances and completely shut Henderson out of the first-team picture.
This has meant that at 25, Henderson has been forced to warm the benches with United when he actually must be getting regular minutes under his belt. With the Spanish superstar set to retain his place between the sticks next season, a move is necessary for the English goalie.
When a club like Nottingham Forest come calling for a loan deal, it makes sense for all parties involved. For United, it could be a chance to keep a very talented player content for at least the upcoming season.
For Henderson himself, he could be the undisputed starter at Forest and get a chance to show his credentials in the Premier League. If signing the English goalie helps the newly promoted club stay afloat in the English top-flight, it could turn out to be the perfect signing.
