Transfer News: Manchester United superstar Paul Pogba agrees deal to join Juventus this summer
According to ESPN (h/t Eurosport), Manchester United superstar, Paul Pogba appears to be on the verge of joining Juventus on a free transfer in the coming days.
The French international’s second spell at Old Trafford will come to an end this month when his contract runs out. Pogba arrived with a world record price tag on his head in 2016 but his time at the Theatre of Dreams has been more of a miss than a hit.
Pogba on his day is one of the finest midfielders in world football. Despite his struggles for the Red Devils, he has been a consistent performer for France, leading them to the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The fact that he could not replicate the same form in a red jersey is something worth pondering over.
A return to Juventus will be a sort of homecoming for the French international. He spent four years in Turin from 2012 to 2016, making a name for himself in the game.
It was at the Allianz Stadium that the 29-year-old established himself as a world-class talent. He was a pivotal part of the jigsaw for the Bianconeri and helped them win numerous Serie A titles among other trophies.
A return to the same stage could be just what he needs to rekindle a flagging career. Unlike his first spell, Juventus are no longer the top dogs in Italy and have ceded that crown to the Milan giants. With a summer rebuild on the cards, it remains to be seen if Pogba will give them the push required to up their performances.
At 29, this is likely to be Pogba’s final big-money move. Helping Juventus return to the pinnacle of Italian football will undoubtedly rebuild his profile and salvage his reputation. As June nears it’s end, so too is the Frenchman’s second spell at Old Trafford.

Pogba’s time at Man United was underwhelming at best and he struggled to find any form of consistency. Unfortunately, the game to bring him back did not pay off and Man United will hope to be more fortunate in the future.
The 29-year-old was also linked with a move to Manchester City but chose against it fearing fan backlash. Ironically, that could prove to be one of his few better decisions during his stint at Old Trafford.
