Real Madrid want to sign Manchester United target Jude Bellingham this summer
According to the Spanish publication Cadena SER (h/t Metro), Real Madrid is looking to sign Jude Bellingham, who is a potential target for Manchester United, in this summer transfer window. The former want to reach an early agreement with Borussia Dortmund with plans of adding him to their ranks after the next season.
Dortmund and Bellingham want to continue together beyond this summer, which dampens the possibility of an exit in this window. However, that aligns with Real’s intentions of letting him remain at Signal Iduna Park for the upcoming campaign. That is because their non-EU quota is currently full, which means that he cannot be added to their squad.
However, Vinicius Junior is set to receive a Spanish passport next year which would free up a spot for Bellingham next summer. Man United are dealt a damning blow in this situation as The Athletic claimed last week that they would pursue the midfielder only at the end of the next season.
Problems for Man Utd?
We would not have been able to change our stance on Bellingham this summer if he was put on the market anyway. After all, our current priority should be to reinforce the holding midfield role, which is indicative of our pursuit to complete a move for Barcelona superstar Frenkie de Jong, who is valued at €100million.
The Independent, meanwhile, has stated recently that our budget for this summer is around £120million before sales. The Madrid club are planning to find common ground with BVB for £78million in transfer fees for Bellingham.
If that is Bellingham’s price tag, we will certainly be priced out under the current circumstances. However, one could say that there is no reason for the German club to agree to an early deal. With the 2022 Qatar World Cup being on the horizon and a long campaign ahead, they could see the Englishman’s value rise even further.

As such, there is no reason to see why the Bundesliga heavyweights would take such a risk by striking an early deal with Los Blancos. Hence, we may have an opportunity to sign the 18-year-old in the future as he would probably remain in Germany without signing for the La Liga champions.
Following Paul Pogba’s departure, we are left with a major gap in midfield that must be filled in the future. Bellingham can be that man, but for that to happen, we must also pip Liverpool as they are actively pursuing the England international as well.
